CIWEM provides a forum for professional debate and the opportunity for members to meet and socialise through a strong network of branches and groups. Members automatically become a member of their local branch when they join CIWEM and have the opportunity to register as a member of any of the groups that cover their particular interests.

The branches and groups are run by members on a voluntary basis who between them organise an extensive programme of technical meetings, site visits, symposia and social events.
